Hi Lloyd,
Here an interesting anecdote. Last year I quit Kaiser as my health
provider. I completed the full course of Pegintron / Ribiviran there.
My liver doctor, Dr. K was my doctor there since 1994 or so, and
he of course cared for me through 2 liver biopsies, countless labs
and of course the year of Interferon Hell.
Since I left Kaiser and went with a well know Blue ppo, I still
needed to get the 6 month follow up lab done. I had not picked a
new doctor at the time so I went to a local lab with my previous
standing order and asked them to send the results to Dr. K who had
written the standing order.
That's when I found out to my shock that the viral load was back
on the rise and the ALT's were again above normal at 54.
Now the next six months passes by and as you know I obtained new
labs with my new GP. I was now 3 months on your alternative medicine
path. As you know, the viral load is still present, slightly higher
than last testing, but according to my hepatologist at UCSF, it
is not significant as to the actual number with this low level.
What is significant however was that my ALT's were 19.
Last week, I received a call from my old Dr. K who received a letter
from someone in my local medical community reminding him of the
federal law that says since I'm no longer a Kaiser participant I
have to be seen by own network doctor, but he said, he would order
a lab for me to see where my liver function and viral load was.
I explained to him that I've already seen a new doctor, have had
recent labs and they were improving due to herbs / alternative medicine
with perfect liver function tests. He paid no heed, other than to
say, you have to be careful with herbs as some can damage the liver,
and that I should just work with my current liver doctor.
I told him she really can't help me and that the herb approach
has been very positive, and would you like to know more about them?
I can give you the website..."NO THANKS", was the
abrupt reply. "By the way, didn't we treat you?" I could
not believe he asked me.
Fred
Hi Fred:
This is such a typical story. This is what has been going on ever
since I was diagnosed. The first few years many people use
to write me stories like this, now most of them just say it on the
phone which makes it more difficult to report on.
You just have to forget their arrogance and take care of yourself.
The "status quo" MD is here to stay for a long while as
the Trillions of dollars they are making for Big Pharma
by just writing prescriptions has become an American Institution!
It is very hard to change the flow of dollars! Thank you for sending
me this story, I do wonder how we can over come the simple stupidly
of our common MD and get them to listen, observe and think out of
the BOX?
In good health
Lloyd
Hi Lloyd,
I guess there's just too much money inside that BOX for them to
think there is an "outside". Of course, he would be concerned
that herbs might damage my liver and there are probably some that
could, but he sure didn't mind giving me Pegintron knowing full
well how it could damage my mind.
Fortunately, there are people like you Lloyd, and slowly but surely,
a change will come: "In any
case, a great human revolution in just a single individual will
help achieve a change in the destiny of a nation and further, will
enable a change in the destiny of all humankind."
- SGI President, Daisaku Ikeda
in the "Human Revolution"
Best regards,
Fred
Hi Fred:
That is beautiful!
I forgot to mention the part about doctors saying that the herbs
can hurt your liver. It seems to me that they all say
that to their patients the minute they hear about them.
Some MDs even go as far to tell people not to use milk thistle
because you never know what some waco may have made it from.
I find that the people I deal with are very concerned with how
things are done, they are ever aware of the quality of there product
and integrity is a constant element in the production of products.
Steven Livene, founder of Allergy Research, Richard, founder of
Atrium, and all the rest of the people that I know and deal with
are fantastic people and would not rob a soul. More than I can say
for the pharmaceutical industry
Lloyd
Thanks, Lloyd. That, I can believe.
