Hi there:
My brother is currently receiving Interferon treatments in Athens,
Greece (he is a US citizen who had been working there and married
a Greek citizen). His Hep C dates back to drug abuse from the 70's
/ 80's (they're not sure exactly when he got it, but he did not
have an attack until last year). His doctor convinced him Interferon
is the way to go, even though he suffered very little liver damage
and probably had a good prognosis.
He has been a nut case since starting the treatment in January.
He can hardly communicate at all.
Now my sister in law tells me that he was just admitted to the
hospital after suffering a huge blood loss ... he was not bleeding
...they think is bone marrow was affected by the treatments, and
he stopped producing blood .. but they are not sure .. he's stabilized
after several transfusions, but he does not listen to reason.
Have you heard of such a reaction? Are there resources you can
point me to, that I can pass along in hopes that he might see that
this stuff is killing him?
Thank you for any help.
